Improving Magento performance with APC

Earlier in the year we launched www.5ounces.co.za.

5ounces is a Magento based website.

A little over a month after launch we installed and enabled APC (Alternative PHP Cache). Clearly mileage will vary but we have seen significant benefits by installing APC with Magento.

The following is pretty self explanatory and it is very clear when we enabled APC.

The following graph goes into a little more detail and clearly shows that APC has significantly reduced the First Byte load time, i.e. reduced the execution time of Magento’s PHP scripts.

This is just one of many techniques to improve the performance of Magento. A number of Elasticera‘s customers use Elasticera to dynamically serve images thereby taking the load off Magento.
