InterSystems Cache / Ensemble

On the 29th April I attended a lecture at InterSystems on Cache and Ensemble. Both Cache and Ensemble are interesting technologies. Cache (Object Oriented / Post Relational database) is a technology I would definitely consider now particularly if I was building a new system.

MySQL 5.1 to be released next week…

According to CIO.com MySQL 5.1 is going to be released next week. It sounds like there are a lot of improvements over MySQL 5 but MySQL 5 lagged behind Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc. It looks like it still has a long way to go even with MySQL 5.1. I find the fact that the InnoDB transactional engine (owned by Oracle) is the default transactional engine a little worrying.

Near-shore team complete

A few weeks ago I completed the recruitment of our near-shore team in Sofia, Bulgaria. It took a little over a month to recruit the team. Six have started work so far. One starts on 14th April, four start on the 21st April and three start in May. Most of those that have started have been to our London office.
